South Dakota

Ranch country at efficient basis, with select cropland depth.

Overview

Our practice in South Dakota.

South Dakota combines large-scale ranch operations across the western two-thirds of the state with productive cropland east of the Missouri River. Basis is efficient relative to Iowa and Minnesota to the east; the operator pool is mature; and the state's commodity mix (cattle, corn, soybeans, wheat) gives portfolio diversification within a single geography.

Lodgepole Capital is active in South Dakota ranch operations and selectively in eastern cropland.

Active ranch mandates in the central and western counties — cow-calf operations preferred. Selective cropland acquisitions east of the Missouri in established rotation regions. Coordination with regional operator networks across all engagements.
